Could Murfreesboro Be Home to the Largest Natural History Museum in the South? Possibly.

A new Natural History Museum is the dream of one Murfreesboro professor of Geology at MTSU. Professor Alan Brown said he already has a huge amount of “stuff” for the museum.

The proposed name for the museum is “The Earth Experience.”  One of the cool ideas that Brown has in store for the museum is a working paleontology lab. He also told us that he would rotate special exhibits with the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

The first major step in making the museum happen, is acquiring a piece of land to build on. Brown says he would prefer to be near I-24 in Rutherford County, but has already received one offer to locate in Nashville. Brown turned down that offer in hopes of staying in his own backyard.
