Steve Willey is hanging up his whistle in Rutherford County as the head coach of the Central Magnet girls basketball team. He's been selected the new head coach at Mississippi's Ripley High School. Willey came to Rutherford County to become the head coach at La Vergne in 1990. He then went to Smyrna, which he led to the state tournament and then spent the last four years at CMS. Before going to Central, he was an assistant principal at Brown's Chapel Elementary. But the coaching itch got him back into coaching and that continues now with a move to Mississippi.

Former Oakland boys basketball coach Mike Wright will move just a few miles down the road to Siegel to assist head coach Ben Dotson and assistant coach Jon Palmer with the Stars. Wright tweeted yesterday (Monday) that he was excited about his first day of spring practice and starting a new chapter with the hashtag #P2BASS (Proud to be a Siegel Star). Wright was at Oakland for six-years, succeeding Randy King. Troy Bond, formally of Wilson Central, was tabbed at Wright's successor at Oakland.
