When a vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Nir Shreibman Blvd. and Murfreesboro Rd. in La Vergne, Lt. Mark Sloan made a traffic stop.  He ran a warrants check on 20-year old Antioch resident Octavio Flores and his juvenile passenger and found Flores was wanted by several agencies.

The Smyrna Police Department had issued warrants and asked the LPD to hold the suspects for questioning on an armed robbery.  The Smyrna officers brought surveillance photos of two males robbing a tobacco store and positively identified both, one still wearing the same clothing and hat as was worn during the robbery.

“The LaVergne police are always on the lookout for suspicious activity,” said Sloan. “Nearly 80 percent of all wanted persons in this country are apprehended through traffic stops, so even when it seems routine, it never is.”
