As of Saturday, it is illegal to burn lawn debris like sticks, grass and leaves without a permit. Permits can be obtained for Rutherford County by calling the state Forestry Department at (931) 685-5030. Those who are caught burning debris without a permit could face a $50 fine. The permit to burn is free.
