The Tennessee Higher Education Commission will be releasing the 2011 Report Card on the Effectiveness of Teacher Training Programs on Tuesday, November 1. This will be the fourth year that the state has made data available to the public regarding the effectiveness of graduates from teacher training programs in the state. The report card has been significantly changed and improved for the 2011 publication as part of the state’s First to the Top initiatives.
Over the past year, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission has worked in collaboration with the teacher training programs, the State Board of Education, the State Department of Education, and other key stakeholders to redesign the report card. The report provides information on teacher education completers’ placement and retention rates, Praxis II exams, and the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System teacher effect scores. Key findings of the report include information related to the academic preparation of Tennessee’s teachers and how well programs’ completers perform in the classroom.
