Murfreesboro Rescue and Fire department crews were dispatched to 511 South Maney for a report of a fire in a utility closet at 4:03 Friday morning (11/11/2011). Initial crews arrived within 3 minutes of notification. Upon arrival, flames were visible from the roof and rear of the house. Seven occupants were in the house at the time of ignition, all made it out of the house safely.
Captain Raymond Smith reports that the structure was fully involved when the first unit arrived.
The Fire Marshal’s office will be conducting the investigation to determine cause and origin. Engines 15 and 1 from Headquarters (Vine Street), with Rescue 8 from Station 8 (Pitts Lane), responded to the initial call. Engine 3 (Mercury Boulevard) and Rescue 2 (S. Church Street) responded on the second alarm. Red Cross responded to the scene to offer support to the residents that were displaced by the fire.
