The new entrance to the Stones River Battlefield is now open. Access is now available from 1563 North Thompson Lane, across from the New Vision Baptist Church.

The new roadway was completed in time for the anniversary of this Civil War battle. The Battle of Stones River began on the last day of 1862 and was one of the bloodiest conflicts of the Civil War. The battle produced important military and political gains for the Union, and it changed forever the people who lived and fought here.
