A major water transmission main is being installed along Mason Roadin LaVergne, closing the road for approximately 45 days, according to contractor LoJac Enterprises, Inc. This is the area that experienced a major water outage when the old water line malfunctioned on October 7th.
The new 24-inch main line is being added to parallel an existing 18-inch main line, according to Consulting Engineer Bill Griggs. “LaVergne will be able to pump twice the water from the water treatment plant to the storage tanks,” he said. “This will provide a more reliable and stable water service to every resident, business, and industry in the city.”
Beginning Monday, November 28th, a section of Mason Road between Ingram Boulevard and Old Waldron Road will be closed in order to install a 24-inch water main. The water main is the primary water conduit to the storage tanks that serve the entire city.
“Although the detour may be inconvenient, it is part of the process of infrastructure upgrades,” said City Administrator Steve Mayer. “Major progress is being made.”
The water main is being installed in tandem with the biggest road expansion project in recent city history. While Waldron Road is being widened to five-lanes – from I-24 to theMurfreesboro Road corridor – massive improvements are also being made to utility infrastructure.
