The Middle Tennessee State University Jazz Department and Blue Restaurant & Bar announce the debut of “MTSU Jazz Jam” from 7:00 to 9:00 Monday night, December 5th at Blue Restaurant & Bar in Murfreesboro. During MTSU Jazz Jam, students from the MTSU Jazz Department, both instrumentalists and vocalists, will be featured performing a variety of jazz standard tunes. Jazz combos coached by the MTSU Jazz Faculty will perform to begin MTSU Jazz Jam, followed by a Jazz Jam session that will feature MTSU Jazz students, faculty and members of the community.

Admission is free and open to the public. Blue Restaurant & Bar is located in Jackson Heights Plaza at 810 Northwest Broad Street, Suite 222.

MTSU’s Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Professor of Saxophone Don Aliquo said, “The jazz jam session continues to be where aspiring jazz musicians and pros go to share ideas and improve their skills. We are excited to partner with Blue in giving our talented students this opportunity.”

MTSU Jazz Jam offers the opportunity for the MTSU Jazz Department and entire university, as well as the local community, to hear what MTSU Jazz has to offer. MTSU Jazz Jam is also open to other jazz musicians throughout the community. There will be a registration sheet for all musicians, who will be rotated during Jazz Jam to showcase talents and skills and allow the opportunity for musicians to play with other musicians possibly for the first time.

Blue Restaurant & Bar Managing Partner Greg Pogue commented, “Blue Restaurant & Bar is excited to be the host location. MTSU has long been a beacon in the world of jazz and has such a wonderful tradition of producing exceptional jazz musicians and vocalists. We are eager to hear what the students, faculty and those in the community are into when it comes to the world of jazz.”

Initial plans call for MTSU Jazz Jam to be held the first Monday of each month, but it could expand to offer more evenings. For more information, call Pogue at 615-410-3383 or visit www.Blue-Restaurant.com.
