In preparation for the 2012 Great Tennessee Air Show, scheduled for May 12-13 2012, Lt. Commander Todd Royles and Lt. Mark Tedrow from the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, flew into Smyrna Airport for a pre-season visit.

After performing survey maneuvers, the F/A-18 Hornet touched down, marking the Blue Angels' first return to middle Tennessee since their 2008 Great Tennessee Air Show appearance. Meetings were then held at the Smyrna Airport executive offices to review logistics for the upcoming air show.

"We are proud to welcome back the Blue Angels," said John Black, Smyrna Airport's executive director. "They are world-renowned and represent the best of the best out there defending our freedom. Their demonstrations inspire our youth, our next generation of pilots, and are a thrill for everyone that witness all that they can do."

Since 1946, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels' mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting and to represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership, and serve as international ambassadors of good will.

The Great Tennessee AIr Show has been held at Smyrna Airport for over 40 years, allowing the community to experience aviation up close and personal.

This Spring's Air Show will feature many other aerobatic acts including Dan Buchanan, Matt Chapman, Rob Holland, Corkey Fornof, plus more to be announced. It will also have ground aircraft static displays and activities for children.

Tickets to the Great Tennessee Air Show are now available at www.greattennesseeairshow.com.

Black adds, "Tickets make great Christmas presents!"
