Some of you may have noticed persons in Murfreesboro who appear to be homeless selling a newspaper called The Contributor. The paper is printed in Nashville and is distributed by homeless persons for one dollar each. Reports indicate the paper that focuses on helping the homeless in Middle Tennessee, will start publishing twice a month instead of once monthly in February. The paper is sold to homeless persons for .25-cents each and then sold for a dollar for a profit of .75-cents. That profit goes directly to the homeless person selling the paper. In Murfreesboro, the paper can often be found in front of the Kroger Store on South Church Street or in front of McDonalds on NW Broad Street.
The majority of articles in The Contributor are written by homeless persons or people who were once homeless.
