The Rutherford American Heart Association and American Stroke Association is pleased to announce Dr. Murali Kolli and his wife, Sharon Kolli, as co-chairs of the 2018 Healthy for Good™ Rutherford Heart Walk. A practicing cardiologist for over 20 years, Dr. Kolli is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the Murfreesboro area and specializes in invasive cardiology. As longtime influential members of the Rutherford area, both Dr. and Mrs. Kolli are fervent citizens of the community and remain committed to and passionate about the heart health of Rutherford County. Having served in multiple charitable roles in Murfreesboro, the Kollis are determined to shine a brighter light on the fight against heart disease and stroke.

"I am honored to serve as Chairman for the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association's 2018 Healthy for Good Heart Walk campaign," said Dr. Kolli. "As a cardiologist, I have seen the effects that heart disease and stroke have had right here in Rutherford County. Together, I believe we can make a real difference in the health of our community and I encourage everyone to sign up and come out for the Heart Walk."

"We're thrilled to serve as co-chairs for the 2018 Rutherford Heart Walk. We know how critical this mission of fighting heart disease and stroke is and we want to do whatever it takes to make our community a better, healthier place," said Mrs. Kolli.

The Association's annual Rutherford Healthy For Good™ Heart Walk, sponsored by Vanderbilt Heart, is set for September 22, 2018 at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic/The Greenway. The event begins at 8am with the walk starting at 9am. Individuals, teams and companies can sign up in advance at RutherfordHeartWalk.org for the non-competitive, three-mile walk. Hundreds of Rutherford County area residents are expected to raise their heartrates and funds for the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, the world's leading voluntary organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

The Healthy for Good Heart Walk is part of The American Heart Association's Healthy for Good movement which encourages Americans to lead healthier lives by delivering science-based recommendations, tools, tips and motivation to build healthier behaviors. Healthy for Good is a movement designed to rally millions of Americans to live healthier lives, inspire a lasting change, and unify people around the simple idea that making a small change today can create a difference for generations. This staple event is a fun way to invest in your health and that of future generations, while honoring those who have been impacted by heart disease, stroke and congenital heart defects. The American Heart/Stroke Association encourages everyone to begin "heartwalking" and make an ongoing, personal commitment to move more, raise your heartrate with regular exercise and be Healthy for Good.
