Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels and his Journey Home Project nonprofit donated $100,000 to the MTSU veterans center named for him and his wife, Hazel.

At the inaugural Veteran Impact Ceremony Thursday (June 28) at The Grove at Williamson Place, Charlie Daniels, Journey Home Project co-founder David Corlew and the foundation's newest board member, MTSU alumnus Terry "Max" Haston, presented the check to the university.

Nashville-area companies also gave more than $41,000. Gifts in kind made the entire total more than $155,000 for the sold-out event that featured music performances by Daniels, Scooter Brown and patriotic songs performed by MTSU students, assisted by Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame members, as part of Operation Song.
