Customers of The Alley on Main, Curious Kitchen and Oscar's can help hungry families in Rutherford County this month as a part of the restaurants' partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

September is Hunger Action Month, a month when people all over America are working to spread the word and take action on the hunger crisis. 1 in 8 people in Middle Tennessee - including 1 in 5 children - struggle with hunger, according to data from Second Harvest.

The Alley on Main, located at 223 W. Main Street, will donate $1 for every meatball pasta or Alley Sammie sold in September. The Curious Kitchen, located at 1602 W. Northfield Boulevard #2, will donate a portion of sales of peanut butter cups sold in September. All Oscar's locations in Murfreesboro will donate $1 for every breakfast burrito sold in September.

Every dollar donated to Second Harvest provides four meals for people in need. Last year, Second Harvest distributed more than 2.2 million meals in Rutherford County.

Second Harvest's Rutherford County distribution center is located at 1958 Almaville Road. To learn more, log on to secondharvestmidtn.org/hungeractiontn/.
