LAVERGNE, TN: Rep. Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) recognized LaVergne Alderman Melisa Brown for the hard work and extreme dedication required to graduate college while working fulltime and serving as an elected official.
The LaVergne Alderman proudly accepted the Tennessee House of Representatives proclamation with honor and a hint of a tear. "I am deeply humbled and honored by this Proclamation; it is the highest honor I have ever received."
Melisa Brown graduated Motlow State Community College, then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, in 2018. Only 2% of graduates achieve the academic honor of Summa Cum Laude.
