A Murfreesboro Police Officer on routine patrol saved the life of a woman who had overdosed, despite the husband suggesting she was merely asleep, according to a police report. The incident occurred on Middle Tennessee Boulevard late last week.

Officer Riley noted in a report that a man by the name of Jason Briley was seen on the passenger side of a vehicle pushing on an individual inside the car. When asked if everything was alright the report stated, "He said yes." The officer then asked the 30 year old man who the woman was and he told her it was his wife and that she was sleeping.

Officer Riley wrote, "I approached the vehicle and noticed the female foaming at the mouth. She had a blueish gray tint to her skin and she was completely unresponsive." The officer quickly pulled 23 year old Brenda Rene Briley out of the car and issued NARCAN twice along with CPR. The woman eventually came to and told Officer Riley that she and her husband were using heroin before she passed out.

In plain sight police found a white powdery substance and two hydrocodone pills inside the car.

The report obtained by WGNS went on to state, "Mr. Briley was not truthful about his state nor the state of his wife, which could have caused the death of Mrs. Briley so he was charged with filing a false report."
