(MURFREESBORO) The Murfreesboro Christmas Parade begins at 2:00 o'clock this coming Sunday afternoon (12/9/2018). MTSU President Dr. Sidney McPhee and First Lady Elizabeth are the Grand Marshals. This year's parade is being dedicated to the memory of its coordinator, Angie Heydel Walker, who was killed November 6, 2018, when a tornado hit the Christiana community.
The parade begins at the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and East Main Street. It goes down East Main and around the square, onto West Main Street and ends on Walnut Street.
The theme of this year's parade is "A Christmas Story".
Honoring Angie Walker
Angie Walker, the parade coordinator, was tragically killed when an F-3 tornado hit Christiana around 1:00AM on Tuesday morning, November 6, 2018.
To honor this 41-year old mother of two and adjunct psychology professor at Middle Tennessee State University, many of the parade volunteers have asked to wear a special OSHA safety vest with a tribute to Angie printed on them.
In addition, a scholarship for psychology students is being set-up at Middle Tennessee State University to honor this loving and caring person.
Angie was the wife of WGNS President Scott Walker, and mother of Reed (age 17) and Olivia (age 14).
Again, the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade is set for 2:00 o'clock this coming Sunday afternoon, Dec. 9, 2018. We'll see you at the parade.
