Businessman Arrested for Not Paying Taxes

A Tennessee Department of Revenue investigation led to the arrest of a Murfreesboro businessman. John C. Jones, Jr., age 67, was arrested on Tuesday morning. Jones was later released on bond after being booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Jones was indicted by a Rutherford County grand jury on four felony counts of failing to file franchise and excise tax returns on behalf of the Jones Company and Associates from 2004 – 2007. He is accused of failing to pay the state about $80-thousand dollars in taxes. If convicted, Jones could spend two years behind bars. Jones is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on January 6th.
