(MURFREESBORO) Despite a brisk wind and temps around 30 on Friday night (2/8/2019), the Murfreesboro Art Crawl had a decent turnout. There was not much tarrying around the square, but quick jaunts from place to place.

Center for the Arts Board Member Lee Anne Carmack told NewsRadio WGNS about the Art Crawl . . .

Again, the class on the CHINESE BRUSH STROKE STYLE OF ART will be on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 1:30-3:00PM. For more information, contact the Center for the Arts at 615-904-ARTS (2787).

The gallery in the Murfreesboro Center for the Arts (110 W. College St.) was packed as paintings of Xie Weiqiang were on display. This world reknown artist is a blend of contemporary and the classic Chinese brush style. His works are on display now through February 28, 2019. Admission is free and the gallery is open from 9:00AM until 4:00PM Monday through Friday.

Here is a sample of the Chinese music that was played on an Erhu, a two string Chinese fiddle, and a Guzheng, the 21-string Chinese zither.

The evening included a martial arts show and the reknown Dragon Dance, all presented through MTSU's Confucius Institute. This is the Chinese New Year, "The Year of the Boar". The public is invited to visit MTSU's Center for Chinese Music and Culture at 503 Bell Street. See their website: www.MTSU.edu/chinesemusic
