Here's an update on Friday (4/19/2019) night's crash that occurred around 9:45PM on South Church Street at the intersection of Lansden Drive. A Rutherford County Sheriffs Office Deputy Major is recuperating at home after being struck by a vehicle while he was helping Murfreesboro Police with traffic control.
The initial crash was between a semi and another vehicle. That was the first tragedy of the evening.
A second accident occured as a result of the first. A Deputy Major from the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office was assisting Murfreesboro Police with traffic control when he was hit by a motorist. This happened opposite the entrance to Savannah Ridge.
The vehicle that struck the RCSO officer was a 2015 Ford Fiesta. 23-year old Kelsey Frazier of Christiana brought her vehicle to a safe stop on the side of the roadway.
It was a cold, dark and rainy night--the roads were slippery and visibility was limited.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that the Sheriff's Deputy Major was released that evening from St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital with minor injuries.
