Incident on Eagle Street in Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro Police recently headed to the 1300 block of Eagle Street in reference to an armed subject who had allegedly pointed a handgun at 2 residents.

When authorities arrived, they located the suspect. Police asked the man to put his hands in the air via their patrol intercom system, but he evidently started to walk away. At gunpoint, the man identified as Brandon Lawrence finally stopped.

A handgun was recovered from the man and he also had two warrants for his arrest. Furthermore, he did not have a permit for a handgun.

According to a police report, Lawrence pulled out the gun after an ongoing dispute over parking on Eagle Street. A neighbor elaborated that it is believed that Lawrence is selling drugs on the street which causes the parking issues.

27-Year-old Lawrence was charged with aggravated assault X2, unlawful possession of a weapon and served two warrants. The arresting officer said that the suspect also smelled of alcohol and marijuana, so he was also charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence and public intoxication.

As of Thursday (5/2/19) Lawrence was still behind bars.
