This Friday (May 17 at 8:30 a.m.) students of Overall Creek will have a STEAM Walk. STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
The Friday event will include multiple boats launched into Overall Creek, which the school is named after. The objective for students is to engineer and build a boat that can float School Principal Don Bartch.
Just like last year, the boats must be made of mostly recyclable materials and stay afloat throughout the day. The boats are launched behind the school in Overall Creek. In the past, students have built boats using milk jugs, 5 gallon water jugs, wooden platforms, and more.
