A 22 year old Murfreesboro woman reported that she was raped by a co-worker.
The victim told authorities the rape occurred in June, but she was hesitant to report the attack due to the man working with her at a local call center. After taking time to process the rape, she decided to move forward with notifying authorities about the situation.
The victim said that the man and his girlfriend often visited her residence and in the past, if the suspect and his girlfriend drank too much they would spend the night. However, on the night of the reported rape the victim said the suspects girlfriend had to leave for an emergency. The 22 year old said that after she left, the rape occurred.
After notifying her place of employment about the attack she says that the Human Resource department failed to take action on separating the two. The woman told authorities the HR department told her they would not look further into the matter and that "They would just have to work peacefully together." The victim then quit her job.
Police obtained a detailed written statement from the victim about the alleged rape, which is now under investigation by the Murfreesboro Police Special Victims Unit. So far, an arrest has not been made.
