Murfreesboro Police were called to the Sam's Club on John R. Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro recently in regards to an alleged intoxicated subject driving through the parking lot honking his horn. When the first officer arrived, a witness pointed towards a nearby gas station and said that the driver just left the Sam's Club gas pumps after "being rude to an attendant."

Police headed to the gas station where they observed the vehicle in question with a flat tire. The driver reportedly flagged down the Murfreesboro Police Officer before the officer had a chance to even pull in next to him. The officer wrote, "The driver, Mr. Hernandez, flagged me down with an unintelligible complaint about a man that 'took $20' and refused to give him gas." The officer said that the suspect then showed him an old leg injury.

Dispatch quickly informed the responding officer that the subject had an outstanding Federal ATF warrant for felon in possession of a firearm. At that point 30 year old Boris Hernandez of Nashville was quickly arrested.

Inside of his vehicle, police found a large open container of Vodka, a grinder with drug residue on it, a loaded .22 caliber handgun and 35.9 grams of methamphetamine.

The official arrest report shows that Hernandez told police that he had consumed alcohol, taken Gabapentin and Lortab prior to driving.

The man was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule two drug and violation of the open container law. As of July 23, 2019, Hernandez is still behind bars and now awaiting an upcoming court date.
