Police responded to an overdose call in a home off of Central Valley Drive this past week. A step father had called due to his step daughter possibly overdosing.
Prior to paramedics and police arriving, the mother of the girl had already administered Narcan.
The step father realized something was wrong when the woman had remained in the bathroom for an extended period of time. After forcing the door open, he found the female unconscious and blue in the face. He then attempted life saving measures followed by his wife administering Narcan.
Police recovered several items from the bathroom commonly used in conjunction with Heroin.
Officers then made their way to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where the woman had been taken by way of ambulance. Once there, the woman was alert and talking. She told police that she is 23 weeks pregnant and has a heroin problem. She said that she used the same heroin the previous night without problems, but on day two she overdosed.
The batch of drugs allegedly came from a man known as "Big Homie" in Antioch. She also said that she usually receives her heroin from her "Baby Daddy" who is said to be the father of the unborn child. However, she would not tell police the man's name. Authorities do know that the man lives in Murfreesboro and is 29 years of age.
The Rutherford County District Attorney's Office has been contacted in regards to the case due to possible complications of the unborn child.
The Narcan, which saved the woman's life, was obtained after the mother asked for a prescription from her doctor due to the ongoing drug use problems that her daughter faces.
Two citations were issued, but the situation continues to be followed.
