(MURFREESBORO) The Rutherford County RELAY FOR LIFE began at 3:00 o'clock Saturday (8/10/2019) afternoon and continued until midnight in the gym at Middle Tennessee Christian School.

Cancer has touched many of our lives. That's one reason the American Cancer Society sponsors the annual Relay for Life to raise funds for cancer research and patient care.

1 out of 3 people in the US will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

Help even the odds in the fight against cancer. The funds you raise through the Relay For Life will not only honor survivors and remember loved ones, but also help give cancer patients and their families the resources they need, like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline for answers and support.

Sheriff's Explorers participated in the opening ceremonies by serving as the Honor Guard.

In addition, they raised funds through Jail and Bail where a person is detained in a mock jail and must donate funds to be released.
