A retired police officer who tried to help out a homeless person on Wednesday got more than he bargained for.  The Good Samaritan told Murfreesboro Police that he gave cash to a man who was holding up a sign asking for money. After he handed the man money, a second homeless person approached the two and stated, “this is my turf.”  The incident occurred in front of Walmart on Old Fort Parkway. The retired officer took up for the homeless person whom he gave the money to and that was when the second homeless man pulled out a knife. The Good Samaritan told officers he quickly pulled out his retired police badge and the man with the knife ran into the woods. By the time police got to the scene, the culprit was nowhere to be found. No arrest could be made.
