(MURFREESBORO) There was a fatal shooting around 8:30 Thursday night at a home in the 1100 block North Rutherford Boulevard. Officers found the already deceased victim, 30-year old Stephen R. Lopez, Jr., of Woodbury.
Detectives with Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the circumstances that lead to the shooting death of Lopez.
Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers explained, "27-year old James E. Evans, III, was detained and later interrogated by detectives."
Flowers indicated that a second-degree murder warrant had been issued.
Evans and Lopez were acquaintances.
