Murfreesboro Mayor talks about the use of tear gas and more during protesting Sunday

Elected officials across the country have made statements on the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota in recent days and here in Murfreesboro, Mayor Shane McFarland commented...



The Mayor said that Murfreesboro Police will not condone such behavior...



In regards to the protest on the Murfreesboro Square this past Sunday...



The mayor said that the use of tear gas on protestors at the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and East Main Street was conducted out of a concern of safety...



Another issue that protestors raised questions about was a 6:30PM curfew, that was announced to those on the Murfreesboro Square at 6:34PM...



Rumors of rubber pellets being fired at protestors were just that - rumors...



Mayor McFarland closed with suggesting we should all treat people kinder.
