(MURFREESBORO) Murfreesboro Police arrested 19-year old Tywan Smith in connection with the Thursday triple shooting at a home on Herald Lane. After being booked here, Metro Police have taken him to Nashville on other charges.

According to an earlier news story on WGNS, Smith and 21-year old D'Juan Bowers along with 22-year old Eric Simmons got into an argument at the Herald Lane home.

Public Information Officer Larry Flowers reports that Smith shot first and the other two returned fire--all three were wounded. This happened around 4:30AM this past Thursday morning (6/18/2020).

Bowers and Smith were taken to the ER at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital via a private vehicle.

Smith was treated and released from the hospital and then booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

He was then turned over to officers from Metro Nashville Police in relation to a May shooting there. In that incident, Smith allegedly got into an argument with an ex-girlfriend outside of her home. She was with another male. Metro alleges that Smith fired and the bullet hit the man's hand and grazed his stomach.

Nashville officers note that when the shooting in May occurred, Smith was already on a $7,500 bond in connection with felony assault and vandalism dealing with a dispute involving his mother.
