The Arts Center of Cannon County will help you satisfy the craving to be a star. Auditions for the classic play "Arsnic and Old Lace" are scheduled for 6:30 in the evening at the Woodbury theatre this coming Tuesday and Wednesday (March 27th and 28th).
As you recall, Joseph Kesselring’s highly amusing drama focuses on two presumably sweet old ladies. They are both considered pillars of Brooklyn society for their charitable works and generosity to their neighbors. Even they, however, have their peculiarities. The antics of their nephew Teddy, who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and the madcap confusion that ensues when their nephew Mortimer enters the scene, make for a delightful comedy-thriller.
Rehearsales begin in mid-April and the production is slated for June 1st through the 16th. The local production is directed by Matt Smith. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. There are roles available for three women, two of whom are fifty plus. In addition, 11 male parts are up for grabs.
TheArtsCenter is located at 1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury. For more information call 615-563-ARTS (2787) or visit their website www.artscenterofcc.com.
