Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg was on Wednesday's WGNS Action Line broadcast, and was asked about plans to rebuild the Kid's Castle playground that is in the Old Fort Park.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Director Lanny Goodwin told WGNS News, "A panel, which had two citizens who were on the original Kid's Castle committee, sent out requests to playground creators for bids. They included specific requests, but allowed the firms to be creative."

Goodwin explained that Miracle Playground Distributers from Kentucky was selected, and that the plans have now gone through the Parks and Recreation Commission and must now be approved by the Murfreesboro City Council.

The new Kid's Castle will be located in the exact place where the current facility was built by volunteers in 1995. He estimated that it would take 60-days total to remove the original and replace it with a new playground.

Goodwin noted, "We hope to have this in place before summer."
