A homeless woman in Murfreesboro allegedly stabbed herself repeatedly in order to be admitted to the Domestic Violence Shelter. 27-Year old Ashley Basham reportedly told police that her ex-girlfriend stabbed her, but that story turned out to be false. Basham even elaborated that the attack occurred in the Walmart parking lot. Police say the story was found to be completely fictitious.
After police investigated the stabbing, it was determined that Basham allegedly stabbed herself in the shoulders, stomach and legs. The cuts were so severe that she had to get staples in her legs to close the wounds. During questioning, Basham reportedly admitted that she stabbed herself in order to get a free place to spend the night at the Domestic Violence Shelter. The woman was charged with filing a false police report and booked under a $2,500 bond.
