MPD Out In Full-Force Over Memorial Day Weekend

Local authorities are on the lookout for law breaking motorists, especially during this three-day holiday weekend.

Teacher Stopped for DUI

Early Friday morning (5/25/2012) Officer McGowan was traveling south on Memorial Boulevard near Thompson Lane. He saw another car traveling in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. The radar unit showed the 2002 Mitsubishi was flying through a 45 mile per hour zone at 88 miles per hour. 23-year old Caitlin M. Gore of Brentwood. The Nashville teacher was then arrested on charges of DUI and she was taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, while her car was towed.

Unemployed Stopped for DUI

Friday also brought about a traffic stop of a 1990 red Dodge pickup at the intersection of Bell Street and Highland Avenue. Officer Fountain made the initial stop because of a broken light on the truck. However, once stopped, he noticed that 59-year old George Albert Rios had an odor of intoxicant. He was charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while intoxicated

Loud Radio and DOR

There are times that you don't want to call attention to yourself. A 33-year old Nashville man who turned out to be driving on a revoked license was traveling along North Church Street with his radio so loud that Officer Terry Spence could hear it while in the patrol car with the windows rolled up. The The 2006 four-door Chevy was stopped at Chestnut and North Maple Streets. 33-year old Dee Sain told Spence that he didn't have a driver's license as it had been revoked. A record's check showed in fact that Sain had several DOR's.  Citations for several violations were issued, along with being placed under arrest for Driving On A Revoked license. Bond was set at $1,000 and Dee Sain is to appear in court on June 12th.

Active Warrant

Ricky Mahaffey was stopped for violation of the seatbelt law while traveling on West Northfield and Tennessee Boulevards. A records check showed the 29-year old concrete finisher had an active warrant in neighboring Williamson County. He was taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center without incidence. 

Shoplifting/VOP

Murfreesboro Police were called to Wal-Mart on South Rutherford Boulevard about a shoplifter. Mark Moore of Bell Buckle was being held by store security, and local officers made a criminal check to discover the 23-year old had an active Violation of Parole warrant. He was booked at 940 New Salem Highway. 

Trespassing

A trespassing call took Murfreesboro Police to the Murfreesboro Motel. The suspect intially told police that he was Jerry Alexander. However, it was learned that he was actually 45-year old Hubbard Alexander of Riviera Boulevard. A criminal records search revealed an active arrest warrant. He was placed under arrest for an active capias as well as criminal impersonation. Once charged, a crackpipe was found in his rear pocket. Possession of drug paraphernalia was also added to the list. Bond for Hubbard T. Alexander was set at $7,250 and he is to appear in court on July 10th.
