Ignition Interlocking Device Would Have Kept Her from Allegedly Driving While Intoxicated

A 44-year old woman who was supposed to have an ignition interlock device installed on her car for past DUI arrest, was rearrested on West College Street on her fourth DUI charge. Police say that Kimberly Ann Sidebottom should have had that ignition interlocking device on her car, which would have prevented her from driving while intoxicated.

A breath alcohol ignition interlock device is a mechanism, like a breathalyzer, installed on a motor vehicle's dashboard. Before the vehicle's motor can be started, the driver first must exhale into the device; if the resultant breath-alcohol concentration analyzed result is greater than the legal limit, the device prevents the engine from being started.

Sidebottom was charged with her fourth DUI and with violating her court order to have an interlocking device installed on her car. The Murfreesboro woman will appear in court on July 17.
