Rev. McCarroll and Dr. Murphy Appointed to MTMC's Board of Directors

The Rev. James McCarroll and Dr. Wayne Murphy have been appointed to the Middle Tennessee Medial Center Board of Directors. The 17-member board oversees operations of the 286-bed, not-for-profit hospital.

Both began serving on the hospital board on July 1st. They replace George White and Emil Hassan who are completing their terms with the board.

Reverend McCarroll is the pastor at First Baptist Church on East Castle Street here in Murfreesboro. He came here from Rochester, New York where he was the pastor at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. McCarroll has also served on the hospital’s foundation board of directors, and serves as the moderator of the Stones River District Association of Churches. In that position, he oversees the work and fellowship of over 20 churches in the greater Nashville area.

Dr. Wayne Murphy

Dr. Murphy is American Board of Internal Medicine certified internal medicine physician with a private practice with Murfreesboro Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Vanderbilt University and completed his residency at the University of Alabama Hospital. He has been on the medical staff of MTMC since 1988.

“We are fortunate to have such talented community leaders as a part of our board,” said Lee Moss, chair of MTMC’s Board of Directors. “We appreciate the diversity that both Rev. McCarroll and Dr. Murphy bring to our board and we are grateful for the service that George and Emil have provided. All are champions in improving Rutherford County and our hospital.”
