On Saturday, November 10th, at 5:30 pm First United Methodist Church’s Military Ministry is hosting a free meal honoring current and former service members.  The event is open to the public, but reservations are required to attend.  This year's guest speaker is Adm. Rev. Dr. Barry Black (Ret), Chaplain of the United States Senate. The evening will also feature the Tennessee National Guard Jazz Band.  This will be a great night recognizing current and former service members of all branches of the US Armed Forces.  “The Military Ministry at FUMC was formed to raise awareness of the number of former and current servicemen and women living in our area,” says Ashley Brannom who is coordinating the banquet.

On Sunday, November 11th, Rev. Dr. Black will also join us as a guest preacher in both our Contemporary Service at 8:30 AM and our Traditional Service at 11:00 AM. Executive Pastor of FUMC Rev. Thad Austin states, “First Methodist is truly honored to welcome Dr. Black.  He is a true american hero, having served his country faithfully for twenty-seven years and the US Senate for nine years.”

A ceremony of flagpole dedication will take place on Sunday following the 11:00 services.
