22-Year-old Victor Bustillo was accused of kidnapping and later raping a female in 2019. Details of the case were handed down to the Grand Jury which resulted in an indictment and arrest last year.

Looking back, the case was investigated by the Murfreesboro Police Special Victims Unit.

Details of the case were not originally released by the police department prior to Bustillo appearing in court. But, since that time WGNS has learned that the man has been convicted in a Rutherford County courtroom earlier this month (June 3, 2020).

Bustillo, who is now 23 years old, was indicted on a “Rape-1” charge, but the guilty plea was for the lesser offense of “Statutory Rape.”

This month, he was sentenced to serve a total of 6 years in prison and received credit for the 10 months he served in jail while awaiting his court date. He will be eligible for release after serving 4 months shy of 2 years (he must serve 30%) of his 6-year sentence. Part of the sentencing requires Bustillo to be registered on the Tennessee Sex Offender list and to not have contact with the victim.
