Thanks to the generosity of area sponsors and the support of nearly 3,000 participants, Borodash awarded $57,000 to this year’s charities. As part of a celebration dinner Tuesday night, Borodash presented checks of $42,000 to Neema House, Inc., $10,000 to Greenhouse Ministries and $5,000 to Interfaith Dental Clinic.
“The mission of Borodash is to glorify God by raising money for charitable purposes and to provide our community a well-organized Thanksgiving Day family event” said Staci McCreary, Director of Borodash. “The race itself is obviously the most visible part of that mission. But the presentation of these checks to these three charities is the culmination of a year’s worth of work in putting together Borodash.”
McCreary stressed that many deserve credit for the success of this year’s Borodash.
“It feels like we say this every year, but we are simply in awe at what this race has become in just a short period of time,” she said. “We have been blessed to have the support of wonderful sponsors like Reeves-Sain who have been with us since day one. Our number of participants continues to grow year after year. And we consider ourselves fortunate to have the opportunity to give to such incredible organizations like Neema House, Greenhouse Ministries and Interfaith Dental Clinic.”
Executives with the charities shared their appreciation related to the donations.
“This money from Borodash will go to provide affordable quality dental care for uninsured, low-income, working people throughout Rutherford County,” explained Dr. Roy Thompson, Rutherford County Liaison with Interfaith Dental Clinic. “As Interfaith Dental Clinic establishes itself in this community, it means a lot to our organization to have the support of such a wonderful organization as Borodash.”
This was the third year for Borodash. To date, more than $137,000 has been given out to designated charities.
