The historic Murfreesboro square is decked out for the holidays and the giant Christmas tree on the east side of the courthouse was lit by County Mayor Ernest Burgess and Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg during Friday night's (12/7/2012) activities (left photo).
Among 60-degree temperatures, area residents took advantage of dining and shopping at uptown businesses. The center stage featured dancers, singers and other Yuletime cheer.
Several school choral groups as well as free carriage rides around the square.
Christmas At Cannonsburgh

(right photo) The Dance of the Sugar Plum Ferry from the Nutcracker Balet was performed by members of the Dance Theatre of Tennessee, a group from St. Paul's Episcopal Church and many more filled the evening with Christmas favorites. In addition, students from the Discovery School at Reeves Rogers as well as the Homer Pittard Campus School choir (pictured below) made Friday night an evening filled with memories.
The Mounted Patrol from the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office was a big hit with the youngsters, and so were the officers and paramedics who rode around on specially equipped bicycles.
