If you're planning on a walk around the city's beautiful Gateway Pond, near the hospital, you may be in for a surprise. The exhilirating walk is there, but the water in the pond has been drained.
There have been problems over the years, including the water not holding along with 3,000 fish found dead there about a year and a half ago.
Photo note: To give you a perspective, the cars you see in the upper left are beside the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic.
The greenway extension goes around the Gateway pond, and features a small building and gazebo. When the pond is full, this is a major site for local weddings. The Gateway pond has been filled with repurified water from the Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department. The area is run by the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department.
