OH JOY! 70 New Shirts from Sports Authority Arrive in the 'Boro

Here is an odd story involving 70 brand new shirts from the Sports Authority. A local resident called the police after receiving four boxes of shirts from the national chain of sporting goods stores. The woman told officers she had recently began an internet relationship with a man in Africa and the man evidently told her he would soon be paying her a visit. He told her he had some items sent to her address that he would pick up upon his arrival.

When the items arrived (all 70-shirts) the woman became a bit suspicious after seeing they were addressed to a female in Ohio and phoned Murfreesboro Police. The woman told officers that the suspect’s name was “Mike,” not “Kristin.” A little police work confirmed the shirts were fraudulently purchased with the credit card of a woman in Ohio named Kristin. Sports Authority then confirmed that other incidents that were similar in nature had occurred elsewhere.

The question now is why did the suspect who may or may not live in Africa have the shirts sent to a woman in Murfreesboro? What was he going to do to retrieve them and when?

So far an arrest has not been made and may in fact not be made if the culprit really does live in Africa. Regardless, the shirts are being shipped back to Sports Authority via UPS.
