The unveiling of the “Rawlins Tractor Shed” will take place at noon.  The shed is being named after Dr. Rawlins who has played a key role in maintaining and adding to the collection of tractors at Cannonsburgh Village since 1982.  The tractor exhibit is designated to illustrate the type of power farmers used in Middle Tennessee between 1920 and 1950.

Cannonsburgh Village was a winning Tennessee bicentennial project created in 1976 by former Murfreesboro Mayor W. H. Westbrooks. The full-size village of the 1800's is in the area where this city began. Murfreesboro's original name was to honor politician Newton Cannon. However, Cannonsburgh lasted only a few weeks, until Revolutionary War hero Colonel William Lytle donated more land where our town square is now located. Lytle stipulted that the village's name must be changed to honor Colonel Hardy Murfree, another Revolutionary War hero.

Cannonsburgh Village is located at 312 South Front Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.  For more information, please contact Sheila Hodges at 615-890-0355 or email shodges@murfreesborotn.gov.
