Where else can $50 buy a delicious meal prepared by some of Rutherford County’s best chefs, an open bar and great music? At THE Summer Party, the primary annual fundraiser for your Main Street program. The festivities are Saturday, June 15, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Margaret and Lynn Agee’s lovely home on the banks of the Stones River is the site for the event. The address is 4551 Lascassas Pike, just east of Murfreesboro.
Also known as Taste of Rutherford, the party features top dishes from a host of area restaurants. Partygoers will enjoy the music of Karl & The Undertones, a dynamic band with a repertoire ranging from Chicago to Aretha Franklin.
One feature that makes THE Summer Party a perennial favorite is that casual, summer attire is required. Shorts and sandals? You’ll be well-dressed.
If you don’t have party reservations, don’t worry. You can pay at the door. Parking is free.
“The most important thing to remember is that your attendance helps support Main Street,” says Mike Zelenak, Main Street’s chairman of the board and owner of the Maple Street Grill on the historic downtown square. “The Saturday Market, JazzFest, Friday Night Live, the Christmas Tree Lighting, Trick or Treat on the Square and so much more are made possible by Main Street, yet the organization is not-for-profit. We need the community’s support to help keep our downtown vibrant.”
The Main Street Program is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center and follows the tenets of that program. Main Street capitalizes on the unique character of the courthouse square and the surrounding business district with the goal of transforming it into the cultural, social, professional and retail center of Rutherford County ... in essence, the hub of community life.
