The success of Motlow’s mechatronics program reached the halls of Congress recently, thanks to U.S. Rep Scott DesJarlais, who praised Motlow and its partnership with Bridgestone North America from the floor of the House chamber at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. DesJarlais, who toured the mechatronics lab at Bridgestone in LaVergne last month, shared the success of Motlow’s mechatronics program in training skilled workers for today’s workforce. Mechatronics combines mechanical, electrical and computerized technologies designed to train students for skilled positions in manufacturing and many other industries. In addition to Bridgestone, Motlow offers mechatronics at its McMinnville Center and as dual enrollment programs at Warren County High School in McMinnville and Oakland High School in Murfreesboro. Students also can complete an associate’s degree with a concentration in mechatronics technology at Motlow.
