UPDATE: Arson Suspected in Three Fires Started in the County This Past Week - No Arrests Made

There were a series of suspicious fires on the morning of July 12th that are still being investigated in Rutherford County. We are told the first happened just after midnight on Factory Road, which is off Halls Hill Pike near Kittrell. The first fire was in an abandoned mobile home. While the firefighters battled that blaze, another vacant home a short distance away was reported "on fire" as well. There was later an attempt to start a third fire within 100-yards of the first two fires.

Now that the flames are long out, the problem that stands is figuring out who started the fires. Detective Randy Groce with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says he has been successful in eliminating suspects, but making an arrest in the case has not happened, as of yet.

On a side note, It took nearly 50 volunteer firefighters to put out the fires. In addition to the Rutherford County Fire Department, volunteer firefighters from Kittrell, Lascassas, Fosterville and Walter Hill were at the scene. One firefighter was overcome by heat, but was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
