Middle Tennessee made its Conference USA opener a memorable one...

Chip Walters with the play-by-play on WGNS and the Blue Raider Network as Logan Kilgore found Kyle Griswould for the 19-yard game-winning touchdown. Middle Tennessee beat FAU 42-35 in overtime. The contest saw five ties with the Blue Raiders (3-1, 1-0 C-USA) never trailing in the contest. Florida Atlantic (1-3, 0-2 C-USA) answered multiple times including a flurry of action during the final minutes of regulation. The Blue Raiders moved to 3-1 for the second consecutive season and the first time in back-to-back years since 1991-92. Middle Tennessee remains on the road with a visit to BYU Friday. We'll have Blue Raider Network coverage as soon as the Independence at Blackman game is over.

In the preps, Fred Wade has 235 yards and four touchdowns as Oakland rolled past Smyrna 37-to-14. Riverdale gets their first win of the year, 34-21 over La Vergne. Up 21-nothing, the Wolverines came back to tie it. But the Warriors scored two touchdowns in the fourth to get the win. Siegel flexed its 7-Triple-A muscle with a 64-38 thumping of number six Science Hill. Denzel Harding had a 105 yard interception return for a touchdown. Blackman won on their homecoming, 55-7 over Stewarts Creek. After a scoreless first half, the MTCS Cougars clawed their way to 23 second half points in a 23-nothing shutout of Community. Eagleville stayed unbeaten in district play with a hard fought 10-3 win at Forrest. This Thursday on WGNS, join the Primetime Sports team for Beech at Siegel and Friday night at the Inferno for Independence at Blackman.
