Murfreesboro’s Communications Department, home to Murfreesboro CityTV, received three national awards during the 28th annual Government Television Programming Awards presented by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).

The city’s television programming can be viewed on Comcast cable channel 3, AT&T’s U-Verse channel 99, YouTube, and the city website.

The winners were announced during a gala event on September 19 in Orlando, FL.

Murfreesboro CityTV brought home a second place award for “Excellence in Local Government Television Programming” which was judged on the agency’s variety of programming quality throughout the year.

Honorable mentions were received for Mayor Bragg’s State of the City and a public service announcement about CityTV on YouTube.

“This recognition would not have been possible without the ongoing support and vision of the City Council, City Administration, and the Murfreesboro Cable Television Commission” commented Communications Director Alan Bozeman. “I am very proud of the entire staff for these national accolades.”

“Our government television programming award winners continue to demonstrate excellence in local government programming and we are thrilled to honor and celebrate their achievements,” commented NATOA President Tony Perez.  “We congratulate these winners for actively supporting local government television programming’s role in building stronger, more connected communities.”

For the 67 award categories, NATOA received over 670 entries from local governments across the country and Canada.

NATOA promotes community interests in communications.  A national trade association based in Alexandria, VA, NATOA represents local government jurisdictions and consortium's, including elected and appointed officials and staff, who oversee communications and cable television franchising.
