This radio broadcast includes the history of the old plantation home and how it started as a 2 room brick cabin that was built around 1815-1820. Therefore, Oaklands Historic House Museum is making plans for their bicentennial with special pictorial brochures, activities and celebrations.
If you have historic documents or photographs, Oaklands' would like to make an electronic copy of the item to be included in the bicentennial brochure. Please phone Oaklands Historic House Museum at 615-893-0022 or take the items by 900 N. Maney Avenue. Their web address is www.OaklandsMuseum.org.
Manning said they are particularly wanting to make copies of plantation journals. He noted there have not been any found over the years, but remained hopeful that some would be located prior to the bicentennial.
