Focus on Middle Tennessee State University

Segment #1: MTSU English Professor Dr. Jennifer Kates, who is also the organizer of this year's Southern Literal Festival, tells about this event that's in progress all this week at MTSU. In fact, Authors Ann Patchet and Minton Sparks are the keytnote speakers at this Friday (3/25/2016) night's 6:00PM lecture.

Segment #2: MTSU's Confucius Institute and museum is now open at the university's new facility at 503 Bell Street (old hospital). Institute Director Guanping Zheng and Assistant Mike Novak tell about the goals of the program and what the public will find when they visit the 3,200 square foot center. Segment #3: As President Barrack Obama and his family begin their historic visit to Cuba today, study groups from MTSU walked the streets years before. In fact, a Blue Raider' study group was in Cuba late last year. Broadcast guest Dr. Jim Chaney, lecturer in the Global Studies and Cultural Geography program and co-director of the MTSU Signature Program in Cuba, shared about the classic cars, famous night clubs, hotels and more.
